Our master plan for this property involved creating a landscaped courtyard shared between the existing single-story gabled home and a new accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The shared courtyard with a garden, outdoor patio space, and entertainment area lead the user to the modern ADU with an offset gabled roof form. The ADUs vaulted interior living spaces feature an open kitchen, dining island, and family room. The interiors are efficiently maximized with two bedrooms and bathrooms. The large accordion doors and skylights allow light to permeate the space and provide the integral connection between the ADU and central courtyard.
